Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Adventure Patch different?

Adventure Patch aims to bring fun back into your child’s day. Our strong philosophy and focus on fun and adventure set our services apart.  Our Adventure Coordinator is a unique element of the Adventure Patch team and allows us to create a fantastic and inspiring program of adventure for your child across all of our services.

What if I’m late to pickup?

If you are running late to collect your child, please contact your Room or Outside School Hours Care Coordinator to let them know. Please note that late fees apply when you are unable to collect your child on time.

What if my child is sick?

If your child is sick, please call your Room or Outside School Hours Care Coordinator as early as possible to let them know your child will not be attending care. If notice has not been received by the session start time, a search fee may apply due to the lengthy process required to ensure the safety of your child.

Please note that you will be charged an absence fee.

What is an Adventure Coordinator?

The Adventure Coordinator is tasked with creating a stimulating and inspiring program of activities for each of the Adventure Patch Services. The Adventure Coordinator takes into account the age and activity requirements for each child and develops age appropriate adventures to get children outdoors and using their imagination. Activities often include visits to our Bush Block so that children experience nature-based play.

How does Adventure Patch communicate with parents?

Adventure Patch uses a range of methods to communicate with parents including email, Xplor, Facebook and this website.

During the day and for specific information relating to your child we will keep you up to date via Xplor.

Do I have to immunise my child?

Do I have to immunise my child?

It is a requirement of Centrelink that children are immunised (or a conscientious objector) to receive child care subsidy. Children who are not immunised may attend Adventure Patch but may not be able to attend during an outbreak of an infectious disease in the Centre.

Can children use their own technology?

Please see our policies and procedures for more information.

Can I book my child into the vacation care program once it has commenced?

Yes, you can, however we advise parents to book as early as possible to ensure they don’t miss out, as places are limited. Our Vacation Care Programs are very popular with excursion days filling quickly.

How will my child sleep if they are with other children?

Adventure Patch encourages children to settle easily and quietly and an Educator will stay in the room while children are falling asleep. All sleep rooms have intercoms, so we will know immediately if a child is crying, and when they wake up. It generally takes only a short time for a child to feel secure and fall asleep easily.

How does Adventure Patch manage meal times?

Mealtimes are an important part of your child’s day, and children soon learn the routine. First it’s handwash, they love the little sink! Younger children sit in low chairs and older ones at the table. All children are given a drink – mealtimes are happy, relaxed occasions. We encourage independence but assistance is always close by.

HOW DOES MY CHILD GET TO SCHOOL FROM OSHC AND FROM SCHOOLS TO OSHC?

Educators sign children out from before school care at approximately 8:30 into the duty of care by the school. Children in Kinder and Prep are accompanied to their class by an Educator while other children walk to their classrooms together. In the afternoon, Kinder and Prep children are collected from their class by an Educator and accompanied to the service. All other children make their way to the OSHC service independent of an Educator. If a child needs additional support during these transition times, a plan can be worked out between the family and the service.
